In school one of the top three reasons kids are bullied according to StopBullying.gov is because of their clothing and shoes. 77% of students have admitted to being the victim of one type of bullying or another. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and mental health issues. Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience: depression and anxiety, increased feelings of sadness and loneliness and decreased academic achievement. Carter’s House was established to help alleviate a financial barrier as well as to show the children of our community that there are people who care and want you to succeed. How do we achieve this? With your help students can attend school in dress code, do not have to be sent home from school for being out of dress code, and do not have to have insecurities about their clothes when they are in school or not in school since image impacts self–esteem.
